PROJECT INSEPARABLE - click here to see what we did
One in every 5 homeless in Canada has a `service animal` which provides them with deep comfort and is reported to help with their overall wellbeing. With the brutally cold weather Toronto had this year, The ladies of TEAM Dog Rescue wanted to help those living on the streets with their pet(s)
In partner with Fred Victor Homeless Shelters - TEAM used their social media channels to reach out to the community to ask for donations for both humans and their pet(s). TEAM set up 4 drop off locations around the city where people could bring brand new items.
On March 15th, volunteers from TEAM Dog Rescue and employees from Randstad Canada went onsite to Google Canada headquarters to sort all the donated items and fill knapsacks and shoeboxes. Handwritten encouragement letters were written by Google employees and put in each knapsack and showbox
250 knapsacks & 50 shoeboxes later plus 20 bags filled with brand new towels, blankets and sleeping bags; bags of dog food and boxes of dog treats; mountains of hats and gloves; toothbrushes and toothpaste for everyone, and much more - it turned out to be such a successful initiative thanks to all the support we received. So many companies came together to collect items to support this cause.
All the items collected have been donated to Fred Victor Homeless Shelters around the GTA.
A shoebox or knapsack says you are not alone and the smallest gesture could mean the world to one.
